In this 6-week session, dive into a variety of exciting chess variants, including Bughouse, Dice Chess, Card Chess, Plunder Chess, Seirawan Chess, Dragon Chess, and many more!

After our game time, we'll showcase our very own unique chess variants we made for students to try out. They'll provide feedback and ideas as we move into our variant workshop, where they'll create their own chess variant! We'll provide tools and guidance for students to develop their own unique ways to play chess in this engaging workshop.

Students will learn the fundamentals of game balance, creative thinking, and logical problem solving to develop their own chess variant! We'll provide tools and guidance for students to develop their own unique ways to play chess in this engaging group game design workshop.

But it's not just about fun and games. Developers face challenges and problems all the time, and we're here to help students develop problem-solving skills that will serve them well beyond chess. This invaluable skill will guide them through life's challenges, as they learn creative problem solving applies in all aspects of life.

In the final weeks of class we will work on fine tuning our new variants and vote on which one is the best, earning it’s place in our Variant Hall of Fame!

All functional variants will be randomized and selected for our end of session mini tournament! That’s not all, our host coaches are not just chess enthusiasts, but artists as well. They came together to create unique art prizes for the winners of our special Variantverse Tournament!
