Coach Steve Ganahl's Beginner Super Group Monday 5:00-7:00pm Feb-Mar
Our Super Team groups meet once a week for six weeks. The purpose of these programs is to give your student additional opportunities to study, learn and practice playing chess in a fun and exciting environment!
Topics vary by group, but include:
- Tournament preparation
- Chess Openings Strategy
- Tactics
- Notation
- Clocks
- Additional forms of chess such as Blitz, Bughouse, and other fun Chess Variants!
Coach Steve has been teaching chess to children for more than 20 years and has had the privilege of leading his students to win over 30 city and state championships! Coach Steve holds a degree in Cognitive Psychology from Yale University, specializing in memory and learning, and has spent years teaching both graduate students and young players!
Coach Steve believes that the best way to learn chess is through play-- taking what you've learned and immediately putting it into practice. When we learn a new tactic, we try to use it in our games. Then, as a group, we review those games, celebrate successes, and identify areas for improvement so everyone can grow together.
